Sunday School News

By Arpi Boynerian and Arpie Ashjian

September 13th was Rally Sunday. The children attended church service and heard the children’s message. It was about the importance of reading the Bible and how it gives us the assurance of God’s love. They then gathered in the social hall for singing and worship. Ani Nigoghosian led the activity “Prayers to Heaven.” She asked the children to write a prayer request on a card. The cards were tied to balloons, then they sent their prayer balloons up to Heaven. Later Kimberly Kamborian led the children in writing what AMC and their faith means to them. This was in preparation for the AMC Centennial Celebration. We thank the Board of Christian Education for welcoming the Sunday school children by serving ice cream during the coffee hour.

This year we have three Sunday school classes. Grades 7-10 will be taught by Arpi Sarian. The curriculum by teensundayschool.org is about how to read the Bible, and study the book of Philippians. The elementary grades will be taught by Suzan Bedoyan, and Sarine Ashjian as her assistant. Their curriculum is from David C. Cook. The preschoolers will be supervised by a group of volunteers. If anyone would like to volunteer, please contact one of the Sunday school co-superintendents, Arpi Boynerian or Arpie Ashjian. Worship leaders are Sarine Ashjian and Rita Orchanian. Their worship songs are from Everest Vacation Bible School 2015. We encourage parents to purchase the CD to help the children learn and enjoy the songs by creating a worship atmosphere at church, home, or in the car. CD’s are $7. For purchase, contact Sarine Ashjian.  Arek Boynerian and Mange Camara will teach the Psalm of the year, Psalm 100. Saro Karaguesian will help by running the Electronic devices. We look forward to another great year.

We have sent out this year’s Sunday school calendar to all the parents by email. Please mark your calendars .and save the dates for the various events and activities.

As always, we would like to thanks the parents and families of our Sunday school children for their continuous support and commitment. We look forward to a great year of teaching and instilling God’s love in our children.
